To have access to God's written revelation to us is mind numbing to me. Once again it should let us know how intensely personal He is, and how He wants to cultivate a relationship with us.

In our Home Groups (HG) we have embarked on a trek toward jumping into the Bible with both feet. We have recently introduced the Synthetic Bible Study Method. This is a chance for us to get a great grasp on one book of the Bible at a time. Think about it, to have a confident grasp which would lend itself to a fuller understanding of one complete book of the Bible is exciting. Too often people will just take snapshots of sections of a book. We are trying to encourage people to break out of this and tackle an entire book.

Don't be overwhelmed at the prospect. Just embrace it.

Basically all you need to do is read through the entire book (only 6 chapters) in one sitting. Try and do this as regularly as possible. Armed with what you will be learning the first major responsibility will be to come up with a 15 word purpose statement for the entire book.

Once this is done we will move on.

Remember, we are trying to master one book at a time. Be patient with yourself. Ask God to reveal the things that He wants you to see, and then to do the things that He wants you to do. As we are changed, our church will be changed and then our communities will be changed.
